The much talked of boxing tournament at
the Rotunda Rink took place last night with
a very disorderly ending. the Rink was
about half full when a start was made the
majority of the people being at the end of the hall, the dearer seats near the ring being practically empty. Immediately the first
contest was announced there was a rush for the first seats and for some time the place was in an uproar. The last and most important, event was the match between Aaron Brown
(America) "the Dixie Kid" and Harry Duncan
(England). This was to be for the World's Welter-Weight Championship, but owing to
Duncan unable to weigh at the proper weight the championship was declared  void. The fourth round was the finish. After a lot of shoving round the ring, Brown was alleged to hit a blow below the belt, for which he was
cautioned. he again hit below, and amid great
confusion two chairs were thrown into the ring
The referee, Mr J F Bradley endeavoured to
restore order, but in vain, and he left the ring giving no decision, and declared he would no longer referee. By this time the hall was in uproar, and the police took control.
